It has come to the attention of the public that Russia placed bounties on the heads of US troops. The President of the United States knew and did nothing about it. Congressman Greg Steube, in his weekly report, made a statement exposing that he is more concerned about the fact that this sensitive information was leaked to the press than the reality of having the lives of US soldier placed in danger by an adversarial government. Steube said in a statement,
“Recently unverified intelligence was leaked to the New York Times which suggested that Russia had secretly offered bounties to Taliban-linked militants to kill American and British troops in Afghanistan. This information was leaked before any consensus was reached in the intelligence community as to its accuracy and before the President of the United States was briefed. We will not tolerate rogue intelligence officers leaking classified information for politically motivated attacks against our President while putting our national security at risk…”

Allen Ellison, the Democratic Nominee running to replace Congressman Steube stated, “It is absolutely true that President Trump received a written brief months ago about this issue and for reasons unknown to us, chose not to take action. This is betrayal, unpatriotic, despicable and any leader in Congress who tries to cover it up should be exposed and voted out of office. I am more concerned with the safety of our soldiers than I am about how the public found out that bounties are being placed on the heads of our troops. We are talking about the brave souls that risk their lives to fight for the rights and freedoms that we hold dear. I stand with our military. If I were in Congress, I would be pushing for a full investigation into this matter. We owe that to our men and women in uniform. They deserve better than this. We need to chart a new path forward.”
